Keeping Up With Kimber - 30 Weeks

Here is a picture of James and I at an outdoor wedding on Saturday...you can see how big I am!
(Lets just say I won't be wearing heels anymore...not practical or comfortable anymore!)

How Far Along: 30 weeks!
Size of baby:  Still a Squash (according to TheBump.com)
Total Weight Gained: I will find out on Wednesday!
Maternity Clothes:
Gender: Girl! Kimber Diane Haik
Movement: All over the place. Over the weekend she was right up in my ribs which made it very uncomfortable.
Sleep: Sleeping great if we don't eat out. Food at restaurants is so high in sodium.
What I miss: Shopping for new fall/winter clothes.
Cravings: Nothing really....I would say still sweets. I am doing better at controlling how much I consume.
Aversions: Nothing this week.
Symptoms: Nothing (at least I can't think of anything)
Best Moment this week: I order the car seat!! Check that off the list!

I would say this has been a pretty easy week. Yoga really helped so I feel really good. I am still getting in several walks through out the week but maybe not as long. Harvard is probably annoyed with me because I don't walk as fast!

We start going to the doctor twice a month starting this Wednesday. I have several questions for him, like.....
1. Should I type up a birth plan of how I want things to go
2. What birthing classes should we take (I don't really want to take any but both of our moms keep talking to us about it)
3. Recommendations for a pediatrician - I have one in mind

Keeping Up With Kimber - 29 Weeks

How Far Along: 28 weeks! My husband pointed out that I have been pregnant for 197 days and I have 69 days to go....isn't he sweet for pointing that out!
Size of baby:  Squash (according to TheBump.com)
Total Weight Gained: 19 pounds
Maternity Clothes: I ordered some long sleeve shirts for this winter on Old Navy's website over the weekend because I was able to get an extra 20% off with free shipping.
Gender: Girl! Kimber Diane Haik
Movement: It is amazing how a couple of days ago she would move a little but now she is all over the place. She has woken me up a couple of times at 3:30 am. I guess I just need to get used to it.
Sleep: I am the type that does not require that much sleep to operate and it is very apparent these days. I don't know if it was gotten worse being pregnant or not.
What I miss: Normal schedule/routine. I can't wait until she gets here so I can develop our new routine.
Cravings: Sweets! I guess I passed my glucola test because I never heard the test results...no news is good news, right?!
Aversions: Underwire in my bra! (maybe too much information)
Symptoms: Round ligament pain but YOGA is helping!
Best Moment this week: When James said to me "I am so excited to see Kimber, don't be surprised if I cry". Isn't he adorable, he is going to be an awesome dad!

I would like to add ISSUE OF THE WEEK! We found out that it could be another month before we get the crib and it could take 2-3 months to get the glider. SERIOUSLY! The crib we ordered from Baby Dreams....should of read some reviews about the company before placing such a huge order. The glider is from Babies R Us...I am really surprised on this one. WE JUST WANT TO GET THE NURSERY COMPLETED!

Maybe I should start taking a weekly photo of me and my belly to go with these post. I think I will start that next week. The only problem is that I hate the way I look especially in photos (i had this issue way before pregnancy).

Arsenic in Apple Juice

Last week, Dr. Oz did a segment on his show where he tested the Arsenic levels in 5 different Apple Juice brands. Below are the brands with his research results...

Minute Maid Apple Juice
Lowest Sample for Arsenic: 2 parts per billion
Highest Sample for Arsenic: 3 parts per billion

Apple and Eve Apple Juice
Lowest Sample for Arsenic: 3 parts per billion
Highest Sample for Arsenic: 11 parts per billion

Mott’s
Lowest Sample for Arsenic: 4 parts per billion
Highest Sample for Arsenic: 16 parts per billion

Juicy Juice
Lowest Sample for Arsenic: 2 parts per billion
Highest Sample for Arsenic: 22 parts per billion

Gerber
Lowest Sample for Arsenic: 3 parts per billion
Highest Sample for Arsenic: 36 parts per billion
Source - Dr. Oz Website

I find this really disturbing because I LOVE apple juice. Plus, do you realize how many parents give their children apple juice???

I also found this interesting on his FAQs page...
Q: Why worry about arsenic in apple juice at all?
A: The US Geological Survey says China is the world’s largest producer of arsenic. We outlawed arsenic in pesticides in the US, but we don’t know what happens in other countries’ apple orchards. Those apples can be sprayed with pesticides that contain inorganic arsenic. Our show found that one box of American apple juice can come from apple concentrate from China and six other countries. That’s how arsenic can get into the US juice supply. We have the right to know how safe that concentrate is.
For more information

It drives me crazy how dependent we have become on China. I prefer to buy local and US made products so this study confirms why I need to pay more attention!

Lazy Weekend

It has been raining the entire weekend. I don't like to get out in the rain so Harvard and I have been hanging out at the house. James had to work both yesterday and today. Today, I did get out for a little bit to go to Averi's 1st birthday party. (Averi is James' cousin's daughter)

As I did laundry, dishes and picked up the house....this is what Harvard did!

He loves to cuddle with blankets! What a cute little guy.

BONUS!!

Today at the doctors, we had the 3D Ultrasound (which you can see the pictures in the previous post) but to my surprise the technician include some videos. You can see how much she moves around in such a small space. Also, pay attention to her facial expressions....pretty funny!

This is when we started and she had her arms and legs were blocking her face...

This is towards the end of the session....
(look at how she stretches at the end of the video)

Technology amazes me!

Little Miss Kimber!!!

Check out how adorable and precious my little girl is!!! We had a 3D Ultrasound this morning...

This is how she started out! Cracks me up.

I think she is smiling in this one!
I can't believe how much she looks like me, she has my nose and cheeks.
She is definitely comfortable and likes to sleep.
WE ARE IN LOVE!! and ready to spoil her!

Keeping Up With Kimber - 28 Weeks

 How Far Along: 28 weeks!
Size of baby: Still the size of an Eggplant (according to TheBump.com)
Total Weight Gained: 19 pounds
Maternity Clothes: Over them! I can't wait to buy new trendy clothes for myself.
Gender: Girl!
Movement: Mainly in the evening but she is EXTREMELY active. I feel her more right under my ribcage than anything.
Sleep: I wish I could get one night of a peaceful sleep. I toss and turn all night and sometimes get up for a couple of hours.
What I miss: Wine and Beer.
Cravings: I think I crave Sweet Potato Fries...I really did not care for them before being pregnant and now I order them all the time.
Aversions: The Mall.
Symptoms: Hands and Feet Swelling
Best Moment this week: Celebrating my Second Anniversary with my hot, amazing Husband!!

If you are pregnant or trying to get pregnant, I recommend prenatal yoga. I cannot explain how wonderful you feel after class. I have learned so much not just from yoga but from the other expecting moms in the class.  Currently, my favorite pose is Half Moon. Here is a picture of what it looks like, however; for prenatal we use a chair for our anchor hand for balance.

Also, I am trying to get in 3 - 4 walks during the week. They say that walking helps with Braxton Hicks contractions. If I don't have time at night I try to go over my lunch break but with the temps in the upper 80s to mid 90s it is not very enjoyable. I love to go at night because 1) it is A LOT cooler and 2) I take Harvard with me.

Cooking is NOT my Forte....but I like to try!

Wednesday for some reason I was in the mood to COOK. This is so not me, I am terrible in the kitchen. If it does not come in a box then I am lost. I found a recipe on Martha Stewart's website that I have been wanting to try for some time. It is Lighter Chicken Enchiladas!

They were so yummy. I have to admit I had to call James in to help because I get stressed and anxious trying to follow a recipe. For one thing, I am really not sure what everything in the kitchen really is or means. I knew I would need his help with shredding the chicken but that was only the beginning. He ended up finishing it for me because I was screwing everything up. Oh well we had fun!
I can't believe I used a small skillet when they said to use a "small saucepan".
Assembling the enchiladas with my big belly!

Don't they look delicious! James even said that we will be making them again because they really were not difficult to make.

Lighter Chicken Enchiladas

Pan-steaming is a smart way to cook boneless, skinless chicken breasts. Gentle heat and moisture keep the meat juicy and tender without any added fat.
  • Prep Time 20 minutes
  • Total Time 45 minutes
  • Yield Serves 4

Ingredients

  • Coarse salt and ground pepper
  • 3 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves (6 to 8 ounces each)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, such as safflower
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons minced canned chipotles in adobo
  • 1 can (14 1/2 ounces) reduced-sodium chicken broth
  • 8 corn tortillas (6-inch)
  • 1/2 cup grated Monterey Jack cheese (2 ounces)

Directions

  1. In a large skillet with a tight-fitting lid, bring 1 inch salted water to a boil. Add chicken. Cover; reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer 5 minutes; remove skillet from heat. Let chicken steam, covered, until opaque throughout, 12 to 14 minutes. Transfer chicken to a medium bowl; shred with two forks. Set aside.
  2. While chicken is cooking, make sauce: In a medium saucepan, heat oil over medium. Add garlic; cook until fragrant, 1 minute. Add flour, cumin, and chipotles in adobo; cook, whisking, 1 minute. Whisk in broth and 1/2 cup water; bring to a boil. Reduce to a simmer, and cook, whisking occasionally, until sauce has thickened slightly, 5 to 8 minutes; season with salt and pepper. Transfer 1 cup sauce to bowl with chicken; toss to combine.
  3. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Pour 1/4 cup sauce into bottom of an 8-inch square baking dish; set aside. Stack tortillas, and wrap in a double layer of damp paper towels; microwave until hot, about 1 minute. Fill each tortilla with chicken mixture; roll up tightly, and arrange, seam side down, in baking dish. Cover with remaining sauce, and top with cheese. Bake until hot and bubbling, 15 to 20 minutes. Let cool 5 minutes before serving.

Keeping Up with Kimber - 27 Weeks

How Far Along: 27 weeks! Third Trimester!!!
Size of baby: Eggplant
Total Weight Gained: I don't think / feel as if I gained weight this past week....we will find out on Wednesday the exact pounds.
Maternity Clothes: I went to the Motherhood Maternity store at the Osage Outlet Mall and was very disappointed. I would like one more pair of jeans and work pants. Plus I will need long sleeve shirts.
Gender: Girl!
Movement: She is getting more active. However, I was pretty active myself so she slept a lot.
Sleep: Can't complain......yet!
What I miss: Looking good in a swimsuit. We were at the lake over the weekend and it is just not the same.
Cravings: Nothing so far! I do eat more though.
Aversions: Nothing.
Symptoms: Being worn out. We went shopping for a couple of hours and I was beyond exhausted.
Best Moment this week: Seeing my family at the lake! (not really pregnancy related)

I started prenatal yoga at Success Naturally.....so far I love it! I learned a lot from the other expecting mothers and I feel so much better!
One AWESOME tip I learned.....if you are experiencing acid reflux (which I am) you need to eat an apple a day, drink lots of water with lemon, take a shot of vinegar every day (they say apple cider vinegar is best) and no fried foods. SO FAR SO GOOD!
Of course, I have to share a nursery seek peek!

James and I really enjoy antique/flea market shopping!

Labor Day Weekend

I have mix feelings about Labor Day Weekend every year. I don't like it because it marks the end of the summer and going to the lake but then again I love fall weather. Here are some pictures from the weekend...
Harvard's first boat ride (I believe). He was a little scared at first and did not know what to think.
Next it will be the four of us!!!
He always has to be on lap or right beside me.
Finally he was brave enough to sit up front with my sister!
It is crazy how much things change in a year! Here are some pictures from Labor Day Weekend 2010....

First picture, I was laying out on the back of the boat with a nice Michelob Ultra. The second picture is my friend Ashley and I drinking all day at Lazy Gators.....man how things change! It's all good though!
